Insert Converts Inefficient Fireplace into Reliable Heat Source

Just in time for the heating season, Empire Comfort Systems has introduced an all-new fireplace insert to turn an existing vented fireplace into an attractive and efficient vent-free zone-heating system.

Available in remote-ready Millivolt and built-in thermostat models, the Innsbrook Vent-Free Insert is rated at 28,000 Btu/H – enough heat to quickly warm a typical 40 x 40-foot living space. The insert includes hand-painted log set, Banded Brick liner and automatic variable-speed blower.

Select from three accessory surrounds – one cast iron and two steel styles – to help conceal the fireplace opening. An assortment of replacement louvers, available in four styles and four finishes, helps match the insert to the home’s décor. The Innsbrook Fireplace Insert will operate without electricity to provide heat during power failures.

Broilmaster Switches to Stainless Steel Cooking Grids

For 2010, most Broilmaster Premium Gas Grills will include cooking grids made from 8-millimeter stainless steel rods in place of the porcelain-coated cast iron.

These super-duty, two-piece stainless steel rod grids, which were introduced on Broilmaster’s infrared grills last year, offer the same multi-level adjustability and lifetime warranty as the grids they replace. Laboratory and field testing have demonstrated that these thick stainless steel grids provide the same cooking performance as the cast iron grids, but clean up more easily and eliminate any chipping.

Prices for Broilmaster grills with the new stainless grids are the same as for the grills that were equipped with the cast iron grids.

Broilmaster Super P grill retains its three-piece cast stainless cooking grids.

Studio Series Fireplaces Offer Unique Decorative Fronts

New Studio Series Direct-Vent Fireplaces, from White Mountain Hearth, provide a fresh perspective on a modern, efficient fireplace.

These heater-rated systems can be ordered with one of three decorative fronts – the rectangular “Arts & Crafts,” or the “Braided Arch,” or “Tiffany Arch.” Each front is available in matte black, hammered pewter, and copper metallic finish.

The decorative fronts will accept optional operable door sets. These doors add drama and depth to the hearth system, and can be used in contrasting finishes to suit the décor – metallic copper doors on a matte black front, for example.

Studio Fireplaces are available in 36-inch and 42-inch sizes in Premium and Luxury models. Premium systems feature tempered glass, 26,000-Btu Slope Glaze Burner, and ceramic fiber log set. Luxury Models include ceramic glass for greater heat transfer, 28,000-Btu Slope “Excess” Burner with larger ember bed, dimmer-controlled lighting, and a massive 13-piece log set.

Both include automatic blower and both are available in standing pilot, intermittent pilot, and even variable remote models that automatically adjust flame height and blower speed to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Mantis Line Grows to Include Flat-Front Fireplaces

Sleek lines and an almost unlimited range of venting configurations make the new Mantis Fireplace the perfect choice for zero-clearance, in-wall installations anywhere in the home.

The Mantis is the first and only condensing vented gas fireplace certified for use in the United States. (Canadian certification is pending.)

Rated at more than 90 % AFUE, the Mantis outperforms every vented gas fireplace on the market. Because it uses readily available 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe for venting, installation is fast and at a total investment that rivals a conventional direct-vent fireplace.

The PVC venting pipe can be routed up a wall and out the roof, down through the floor and out a crawlspace or basement wall, or straight out the back. Versatile PVC venting makes Mantis especially suited for sunrooms, cabins, basements, or any installation where a conventional vent pipe is impractical.

A power-vent exhaust blower carries a measured amount of fresh air into the unit to support combustion and carries the flue products to the outdoors. This precise air-to-gas ration ensures a clean burn for lower emissions. With a flue temperature of just 120° F – the Mantis emits fewer greenhouse gases than any conventional fireplace, making it the first truly “green” hearth product.

Other features include hot surface ignition system, ceramic glass, hand-painted logs, and automatic room humidification.

Broilmaster Launches Two Infrared Grill Models

Belleville, IL – Two all-new Broilmaster Infrared Grills give consumers true backyard cooking versatility. The Broilmaster R3 features twin IR burners, while the R3B pairs an IR burner on the right with a stainless steel blue flame burner on the left.

Infrared burners technology is used in fine restaurants to sear in the flavor on steaks, chops, chicken, and fish. They can generate up to 1,600 degrees F at the surface to instantly vaporize any drippings and can cook foods more quickly, which conserves fuel.

Unlike other infrared grills, special features on both the Broilmaster R3 and R3B grills allow much greater control over a wider temperature range. Precise temperature control begins with the two individually variable gas valves, and is enhanced by the three-level stainless steel cooking grids and stainless steel warming rack that help keep foods at the proper distance, plus the stainless steel lid stop that helps vent excess heat when needed.

Both Broilmaster Infrared Grills may be mounted on a cart or post, and can also be built into an island to serve as the start of any outdoor living area.
